Pattern or Chaos
Pattern or Chaos

Oil on panel, 2019, 7000 x 1500mm

Pattern or Chaos was a installation in Woolloongabba Sub Station which aimed to give some physicality to the often felt, but never seen feeling of unease we experience in a world that seems to demand regularity and certainty, yet is ever changing and unpredictable. Initially viewers see only a blue object in the room, but as they approach a ripple pattern is slowly revealed. The pattern however is deceptive and non repetitive raising questions about how the human mind simplifies our understanding of things, when the reality is impossibly complex.

This installation was apart of the Celebrating Uncertainty workshop, in which participants were asked to study the ripple pattern and discuss whether they saw pattern or chaos.
