Shannon is based in Brisbane and originally from Sunrise Beach, Queensland.
She is fascinated by how our emotions can change over time; becoming distorted, fragmented versions of our initial feelings. It is these transient emotions and the associated concepts in our psyche that she endeavors to give tangibility to.
As a graduate of architecture in 2016 at QUT Shannon now dedicates her time to her own arts practice, teaching and sharing her experiences. Shannon is occasionally a sessional academic at the Queensland University of Technology teaching Architectural Visualisation. She also works in retail at Art Shed Brisbane, where she enjoys assisting Brisbane’s budding and established artists with their materials.
In 2018, Shannon attended two residencies. The first was in July at Artist Archipelago Residency Korpo, Finland. The second was in her adopted home, Brisbane at Outerspace ARI from August-November.
Shannon would like to acknowledge the Gubbi Gubbi people as the traditional custodians of the land and water she often observes and represents in her arts practice. She recognises and respects their connection to land, water and community. She pays her respects to their Elders; past, present and emerging.
